The Dutch are the majority, with sizeable communities tracing roots to former colonies such as Indonesia, Suriname, and the Caribbean, and to Turkey and Morocco. Dutch is the official language, and English is very widely spoken.

Historically split between Protestant and Catholic traditions, the Netherlands is now among the most secular and socially liberal societies in the world, with a significant Muslim minority.

Society

The Netherlands offers very high living standards, excellent infrastructure, and strong healthcare. It is one of Europe's most densely populated countries, with population growth driven by immigration.
