Mauritius

Mauritius is strikingly multicultural, its people descended from Indian, African, Chinese, and French settlers and laborers, giving it a Hindu plurality alongside Christian, Muslim, and other communities. English is official, with French and Mauritian Creole widely spoken.

This diversity — Hindus, Christians, and Muslims living together — is a defining and largely harmonious feature of the nation.

Mauritius has high literacy, good healthcare, and among the highest living standards in Africa, with a stable democracy and a slowly aging population.
