The Czech Republic has one of Central Europe's most prosperous and industrialized economies, deeply integrated into European, and especially German, manufacturing supply chains.
A skilled workforce and strong engineering tradition underpin a large export sector. The country is an EU member but retains its own currency, the koruna, and enjoys low unemployment.
The automotive industry is the flagship sector, led by Škoda, alongside machinery, electronics and electrical equipment, metals, glass and ceramics, and a growing technology sector.
