July 1st 1776 - The Connecticut naval vessel Defence captures the HMS John
July 13th 1776 - The USS Reprisal encounters and captures the HMS Peter
July 6th 1777- The USS Hancock is captured by the HMS Rainbow off of Halifax
July 2-30th-1812 The USS President operating in the North Atlantic, cpatures the the HMS Traverler, Duchess of Portland and the John Lancaster.
July 18th –29th 1813- The USS President defeats the HMS Daphne, Eliza Swan and Alert off the English coast.
July 6th 1814- The USS Was p engaged and defeats the HMS Wasp
July 3rd 1898- The entire Spanish fleet in Cuba is defeated when it engages the US blockading force. The Spanish lose the Teresa, Vizcaya, Colon, Oquendo, Pluton and the Furor . The Americans lost one sailor.
July 4, 1942 The USS Triton SS-201 sinks the Japanese destroyer Nenhi off the coast of the Aleutians.
July 5, 1942 - The USS Growler SS-215 sinks the Japanese destroyer Garare in Kiska in the Aleutians
July 13th 194 2 The German submarine U-153 is sunk by the USS Lansdowne off the coast of Panama
July 1st 1943 - The (DD-446) sinks the Japanese submarine RO-101 off the Solomon Islands
July 6th 1943- Battle of Kula Islands - Ten Japanese destroyers attempt to deliver reinforcements to Kolombangara. The destroyers are turned back, two are grounded. The US loses the
July 12th 1943- The Second Battle of Kula Islands - The Japanese once again attempt to reinforce Kolombangara. The US loses the USS Gwin (DD-443) Two cruisers are damaged. The Japanese lose the cruiser Jintsu .
July 13th 1943 - Planes from the USS Core CVE-13 sink the German submarine the U-487.
July 23- 1943 – the US from the USS Bogue (CVE-9) sink the German U-527 off the Azores. The USS Badger- DD-126 sinks the U-598.
July 27th - The USS Scamp (SS-277) sinks the I-24 off the Admiralty islands.
July 4th 1944 - The David Taylor (DD-551) sinks the Japanese sub I-10
July 5th 1944 - The German sub U-233 is sunk in the North Atlantic by th e Thomas (DE-102) and the Baker (DE-190)
July 6th 1944 - The US Paddle (SS-263) sinks the Japanese destroyer the Hokaze off the philipines
July 7th 1944 The Kate (SS-305 ) sinks the Japanese destroyer Ussugumo off the Kurile Islands. The Mingo (SS-261) sinks the Japanese destroyer Tamanami in the South China Seas
July 14th 1944 The William C Miller (DE-259) sinks the Japanese destroyer I-40
July 5th 1945- The USS Lizardfish (SS-373) sinks the Japanese Auxiliary Submarine Cahser No 37 off Java
July 23 1945 - The USS Hardhead (SS-365) sinks the Japanese Submarine Chaser N 117 off Java
July 24th 1945- The US Third Fleet under Admirla Halsey launches attaacks against Japanese naval bases. The Japanese Battleships- Hyuaa, Ise and Haruna are sunk. The carrier Kaiyo and the Cruiser Aoba and Iwate are also sunk
July 28th 1945 - The Destroyer Callaghan becomes the last US ship to be sunk
by Kamikaze off Okinawa-
The Third Fleet once again attacks Japan, concentrating on the Kure Naval base. It sinks the carrier Amagi, cruisers Toni, Izumo and Oyodo .
July 30th -The cruiser CA-35) is sunk by a Japanese submarine. Its men abandon ship, most die in the waters while awaiting rescue, that takes days to occur.
