Moldova

Most Moldovans are ethnically and linguistically Romanian, and the official language is essentially Romanian. There are Ukrainian, Russian, Gagauz, and Bulgarian minorities.

The population is predominantly Eastern Orthodox Christian.

Moldova has high literacy but has lost a large share of its people to emigration, leaving it with one of the continent's steepest demographic declines.
