Chile

Chileans are predominantly of mixed European and Indigenous (Mestizo) heritage, with the Mapuche the largest Indigenous group. Spanish is the official language.

Roman Catholicism is the traditional faith, though Chile has become markedly more secular, with a growing evangelical Protestant minority.

Society

Chile has high literacy, good development indicators, and among the highest living standards in the region, though deep inequality fueled major protests in 2019.
