April 2nd PFC Jessica Lynch Rescued.

US forces advanced on all fronts. American forces neared Baghdad from the South. In the North the Iraqis began to withdraw.

The biggest news story of the day was the rescue of the Pfc. Jessica D. Lynch, of Palestine, W.Va.,by Navy SEALs, U.S. Army Rangers, Air Force combat controllers, and Marines, from her Iraqi captors. Pfc. Lynch had been listed as Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown following an ambush of her convoy by enemy forces on March 23, 2003. She had been held at Saddam Hospital in the town of Nasiriyah, Iraq Ð a facilty used by the Iraqi regime as a military post.
