March 30th-Crossing the Euphrates.
US troops continued their march North towards Baghdad. They reached the Euphrates and crossed it. Meanwhile the outskirts of Basra were captured by US Marines while the British were assigned the task of achieving the surrender of the Basra. The V Corps occupies positions near Karbala.
