May 1 - President Bush announces end of Major Combat operations. Bush Speech.
May 4-6th Five seperate shooting incidents took place in which American troops were the targets. One American was wounded but the ishootings did not bode will for the future.
May 8th- An American soldier part of the V corps was killed when a gunment came up to him as he directed traffic.
May 12 Paul Bremer arrives in Iraq to replace General Jay Garner as the head of the newly formed Coalition Provisional ÊAuthority Bremer Statement.
May 27 A number of coalition forces were killed in different parts of Iraq - indicating continued opposition to US forcees. Article on violence.
