August 1s t Seven US Marines were killed in action near Haditha. The Marines were killed in a small arms engagement with terrorists.

August 3 rd Ð A US troop carrier in the city of Haditha was blown up by a huge roadside bomb. Fourteen marines and as Iraqi interpreter were killed . This bombing brought to 20 the number of Marines killed in Haditha within three days.

August 17th- Three separate car bombs exploded around Baghdad bus station killing 43 Iraqis and wounding 88. The bombings seemed aimed at Shite bus riders of buses.

August 24 th A heavily guard compound in Baquba was attacked by a suicide bomber. The bomber killed either including two Americans.

August 31st - Up to 1,000 people die in a stampede on the Al-Aaimmah bridge after rumours of a suicide bomber cause panic amongst pilgrims on the way shrine of the Imam Musa al-Kazim. The pilgrims were on bridge in Northern Baghdad when the panic seized the crowd.
