Nominated: George McGovern of South Dakota for President.

Nominated: Thomas Eagleton for Vice President.

McGovern entered the convention with enough delegates to ensure his victory. A last minute movement to stop McGovern developed with Humphrey as its leader. The opponents concentrated on challenging the credentials of some of the delegations. When that failed McGovern went on to be nominated on the first vote.
