Nominated: Horace Greeley for President.

Nominated: Benjamin Bronw for Vice President.

When the Democrats met they knew that if they were going to defeat Grant they had to change their platform and reject the anti Reconstruction platform of 1868. They also knew that they had to accept Greeley who was the choice of the Liberal Republicans.
