Religion of the Sumerian Empire

The Sumerians believed that many gods ran the world. All gods were not equal, some were responsible for music, law and war, while others were responsible for leatherworking and basket weaving.

The Sumerians believed that Enlil was the air god and the king of the gods. The gods were responsible for most things that took place. The gods were considered to be benvolent, but it was not up to man to understand the gods.
