Japanese Begin Kamikaze Attacks

The History

1945 Japanese Begin Kamikaze Attacks

With the war seemingly lost, and America having total air and sea superiority the Japanese resorted to using suicide bombers to attempt to destroy American ships. Japanese pilots would fly single or twin engine aircraft laden with explosives and then crash them into American ships. A total of 35 US ships were sunk and another 288 were damaged.
