DC-2 Put Into Service

(5/11/34) Instead of building a second DC-1, Douglas created the DC-2. They added 18 inches to the plane and carved out another 18 inches from a baggage compartment, to create room for another two passengers. TWA introduced the DC-2 into service. This aircraft could fly from Los Angeles to New York in 16 hours with only two stops, carrying 14 passengers at a cruising speed of 170 mph.
