Day Sixty Nine March 30, 2009

The President began his day with his daily security brieifing. That was followed by his daily economic briefing. At 11AM the President presented his plan for the American Automotive Industry. In his remarks the Presdent presented a short term plan, giving Chrysler 30 days to work out a merger with Fiat and giving GM 60 days to come up with a better restructuring plan. The President spoke about the possibility of bankruptcy for both firms and offered that the government would guarantee the warranties of US cars.

The President then met with Defesne Secretary Gates and then had lunch with the Vice President.

In the afternoon the Preident signed the Omnibus Public Lands Management Act of 2009. He then met with the House Democratic Caucus to push his budget plan.
