1996 Suicide Bombings.

In the wake o fthe Rabin Assasination Shimon Peres had become Prime Minister. He called for new elections which he thought he would easily win. However during the course of the campaign there were four deadly bombing. On February 25, 1999 there was a bus station bombing in Ashquelon,only one person was killed, that same day there was a bombing at the Jerusalem Central Bus Station which killed 18. A few days later there was a second bus bombing in Jerusalem this tie on a bus on Jaffa Road. Once again 18 were killed. The next day on Purim in Tel Aviv there was a deadly bombing at Dizengoff Center Shopping Mall. 13 were killed. More than anything else the bombing turned the Israeli public against Peres and gave Bibi Netanyahu a narrow win.
