Carl Sagan was born on November 9, 1934 in Brooklyn New York. He was a curious child going to Musuems by himself. When he was 14 his family moved to Rahway, New Jersey where he went to Rahway High School, graduating in 1951.

Carl Sagan was born on November 9, 1934 in Brooklyn New York. He was a curious child going to Musuems by himself. When he was 14 his family moved to Rahway, New Jersey where he went to Rahway High School, graduating in 1951. He won the class award as most likely to succeed and was accepted to University of Chicago at 16. He eraned a BA in 1954 and MS in Physics in 1956 and a Ph.D. in 1960.

Astronomer Carl Sagan was responsible for making the science of the heavens accessible to millions. His television appearances and popular books contributed to America's ongoing fascination with space. Sagan was director of planetary studies at Cornell University.

He died in 1996 following a struggle with cancer.
