Ukraine-born Sergei Prokofiev was a brilliant pianist, conductor and composer. He wrote seven symphonies, violin and piano concerti, operas, a cantata, ballets and many works for chamber orchestras.

Among his best-loved works are Peter and the Wolf (1936), Romeo and Juliet (1938) and The Love for Three Oranges (1921).
