Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935 i Tupelo, Mississippi. He started singing in elementary school. In 1948 his family moved to Memphis. In his senoir year of high school he started singin professionaly. He cut his first record at Sun recording in 1953.He was working as a truck driver duringthe period. His first hit was playig "Thats All Right".

One of the entertainment giants of the 20th century, Elvis Presley epitomized the era of rock and roll. His many recordings, including songs such as "Heartbreak Hotel," "Love Me Tender" and "Are You Lonesome Tonight," were instant hits, soaring to the top of the pop charts. Presley also appeared in a series of successful films and television specials. With the appearance on the music scene of groups such as The Beatles, Presley's dominance over the rock world began to diminish somewhat, although he continued to enjoy great popularity until his untimely death at age 42.
