Venetian Maid

Early in World War I, Venetian Maid-a woodenhulled motor boat designed by Carlton Wilby and completed in 1916 at Detroit, Mich., by the American Boat Co.—was slated to be acquired by the Navy from Thomas Hunter for use as a section patrol boat. She was assigned the designation SP-188 and scheduled to be delivered to the Navy on 14 June 1917. However, records indicate that the boat was never actually taken over by Federal authorities.
