Pontiac (YTB-756) was laid down 22 March 1960 by Southern Shipbuilding Corp., Slidell, La.; launched 30 June 1960; and completed 12 December 1960.

From 1961 into 1970 Pontiae (YTB-756) seryed the 6th Naval District, Charleston, S.C. Into 1970 she operated at Mayport, Fla.
