The fifth Albany (SSN-753) was laid down on 22 Apri1 1985 at Newport News, Va., by the Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry dock Co.; launched on 13 June 1987; sponsored by Mrs. Nancy M. Kissinger; and was commissioned on 7 April 1990, Commander Darl R. Anderson in command.
