Gallup II

The second Gallup was laid down 27 April 1964 by Tacoma Boatbuilding Co., Inc., Tacoma, Wash.; launched 15 June 1965; sponsored by Mrs. Goodwin Chase; and commissioned 22 October 1966, Lt. William T. Spane, Jr., in command.

From October 1966 until February 1967, the motor gunboat conducted shakedown operations under Commander Amphibious Group 3 off the West Coast as far north as Juan de Fuca. On 28 March 1967 Gallup was reclassified PG-83. She continues to serve as a patrol and surveillance craft in the Pacific Fleet.
