Otsego I sch

Otsego I (Sch: a. 2 guns)

The first Otsego was a small schooner obtained on loan from the Army in 1840 for action against the Seminole indians. Commanded by Passed Midshipman James S. Biddle, she operated in Florida waters in the "Mosquito Fleet" in 1840 and 1841. She returned to the War Department in 1844.
