July 2005 in Iraq

J uly 14 th - A sports utility vehicle was driven by a suicide bomber into a crowd of children who had surrounded a US patrol. A total of 27 Iraqis most of them children. A suicde bomber blew himself up in the Northern City of Kirkurk. The bombing took place in frot of the Rafiddain Bank where a crowd of retirees were waiting to cash their pension checks. A total of 22 peole were killed and 80 were wounded.

July 15 th - The Muslim Sabbath was shattered by a series of eight suicide bombers. The first attack occurred at 8AM and the lasted until 8PM. A total of 22 people were killed in this wave of attacks.

July 17 th - In one of the most horrific suicide bombings of the Iraqi conflic a suicide bomber blew himself up under a fuel tanker in the Musayyib a poor town south of Baghdad. In the ensuing fire storm 71 people died and 156 were wounded. The horrific nature of the bombing- prompted the Iraqis Shite spiritual leader to ask the Iraqi government to 'to defend this country against the mass annihilationÓ.

J uly 24th - Nine American soldiers werre killed in two seperate attacks on US troops.

July 25 th - On the same day that Sunni leaders agreed to resume talks on a new constitution a suicide bomber drove an explosive laden truck into a police station. A total of 25 people were killed and another 33 wounded.
