The 2012 Election

South Carolina January 21, 2012

HistoryCentral · Primary Source & History.

The Republican Primary race changed dramatically when Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich won the SouthCarolina primary decisively . Gingrich who had lost both Iowa and New Hampshire came from behind to beat Mitt Romneny handily. The Gingrich victory was primarily the result of two very strong debate performances as well as Romney's failure to connect with primary voters.
