August 17-24. One thing dominated this week in the elections and that was the continued controversy over John Kerry's Vietnam service. The attack by " the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" were largely proved untrue by researchers for many news outlets. The facts did not get in the way of the continued attacks which began to have an effect on the Kerry campaign.
