Rosa Parks Sparks Protests in South

Rosa Parks, an African American woman, sparked the non-violent fight against civil rights violations in the South. She refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama to a white passenger. She was arrested and jailed. Black leaders, led by Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., responded with a boycott of the Montgomery bus company, which gained national attention and helped serve as a catalyst for continued activity.
