Bloody Kansas

The Kansas-Nebraska Act granted the people of Kansas and Nebraska the right to decide for themselves whether to be free or slave states. As a result, a civil war developed in Kansas between pro-slavery and anti-slavery groups, in which 200 people were killed and millions of dollars in property damage was done.
