Russia Invades Poland

On May 19, 1792 Russia invaded Poland. The Russians feared the strengthening of Poland under its new constitution. Thaddeus Kosciusko, a veteran of the American Revolutionary War returned to Poland to help to defend it. The valiant defense was ultimately futile.
