July 1963- President Kennedy's Schedule


 

1 President Kennedy traveled from Milan to Rome. He met with all the leader of the Italian leadership. The President placed a wreath o the tomb of the Unknown soldier. The President attended a dinner given in his honor by the President of Italy.
2 Visit to the Vatican and private audience with Pope Paul VI. The President then gave a luncheon in honor of President Segni and the Prime Minister of Italy. The President then went to Naples. The President traveled to Naples and spoke at NATO headquarters. The President departs late in the afternoon for Washington.
3 President Kennedy returned to Washington. The President first meeting was a Cabinet Meeting. After lunch the President met with foreign policy and defense advisors to discuss Nuclear Test Ban Treaty negotiations.
4 The President held a meeting on Viet Nam. George Ball, Averell Harriman, Roger Hilsman and Michael Forrestal attended the meeting. The President met with Willard Wiltz and James Reynolds. After lunch the President flew to Hyannis Port.
5 President and Mrs. Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy and Lemoyne billings cruise aboard the Honey Fitz, Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.
6 President Kennedy cruises aboard the Marlin with Lemoyne Billings and Ambassador Joseph Kennedy, Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.
7 President attended Mass at St Francis Xavier Church. Later in the day President and Mrs. Kennedy play golf at the Hyannis Golf Club, Massachusetts.
8 President Kennedy returned the Washington. He started his day with a presentation of the Hubbard Medal to members of the American Mount Everest Expedition. The President then met with a group of Senators and Congressman. The President next met the Robert Menzies the Prime Minister of Australia. The President next hosted a luncheon in honor of the Prime Minister. The President next met with Frederick E Noting US Ambassador to Viet Nam. The President then met with Robert McNamara. The President next met with John B Martin the US Ambassador to the Domincan Republic. The President last meeting was with Charles Horsly and William Walton. In the evening the President took 30 guests on a cruise on board the Sequoia.
9 The President began his day with a Legislative Leader Breakfast. The President next met with Brewster Morris the US Ambassador to Chad. The President next met with the Labor Secretary Wirtz and representatives of the Railway Unions. The President met with the Ambassador of Pakistan. The President next hosted a meeting of the National Security Council.
10 The President began the day with a meeting with Averell Harriman, McGeorge Bundy and Carl Kaysen. The President next held a meetings with Congressional leaders and leaders of both sides in the railroad work rules dispute. Those meetings went on all day with a final meeting with the President ending at 4:25. The President then met with Orville Freeman. The Presidents final meeting was with Jerome Wiesner.
11 The President began his day by receiving the National Commander of the AMVETS. The President then met with Mercer Cook the US Ambassador of Niger. In the afternoon the President met with the Business Council. The President ended his day with a meeting with Rostow and Bundy.
12 The President received 30 members of the Swedish Social Democratic Party. He them met with the National Commander of Disabled American Veterans. The President met with Orville Freeman, Herter, Ball,Michael Blumenthal and Roland Renne. The President met with French Ambassador Herve Alphand. Next the President met with an Indian Parliamentary Delegation. The President hosted a luncheon for a group of Governors. The President headed to Hyannis Port.
13 President and Mrs. Kennedy cruise aboard the Nomad, Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.
14 The President went to St Francis Xavier Church. He took a cruise aboard the Noman. The President played Golf with Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Paul Fay, and David Ormsby-Gore.
15 The President returned to Washington. His first meeting was Douglas Dillon, Walter Heller, Kermit Gordon, William McChernsey Martin and Robert Roosa. The President next met with World Press Institute. After lunch the President held a meeting on South Africa. He then had a meeting with President Julius Nyerere of Tanganyika. The President had a reception for the members of Congress.
16 President Kennedy began his day with a Legislative Leaders Breakfast. The President met with Hon Luther Hodges, Richard Holton and Franklin D Roosevelt jr. The President received a Report on the International Passamaquddy Tidal Power Project . The President then met with Luther Hodges, Richard Holton, Franklin D Roosevelt Jr, Robert McNamara, George Ball, David Bell, Christian Herter Kermit Gordon, Walter Heller, Theodore Sorensen and McGeorge Bundy. The President then met Senator Gaylord Nelson. The President met with the National Labor-Management Panel. The President then hosted a luncheon for President Julius Nyerere of Tanganyika in the White House State Dining Room. After the lunch the President met with the students and faculty of the NATO Defense College. The President then met with President Julius Nyerere of Tanganyika. In the early evening the President went to reception hosted cy the Tanganyikan President.
17 The President began his day with a Pre Press Breakfast. The President next met with General Maxwell Taylor, The President next met with Senator Thomas Dodd. The President 's next meeting was with Anthony Celebrea. The President next met with Douglas Dillon, Kermit Gordon, Walter Heller and Theodore Sorensen. After lunch the President gave a Press Conference.
18 The President began his day greeting 2,600 American Field Service Students. The President then received an Afghan Parliamentary Delegation. The President next met Leonard Unger, US Ambassador to Laos. The President next met with Admiral George Anderson. After lunch the President met with Dean Rusk, George Ball, Harland Cleveland, Menner Williams, Robert McNamara, General Maxwell Taylor, William Bundy, Frank Sloan, and Adlai Stevenson. The President then met wtih General Earl Wheeler. The President then met with Robert McNamara and John McCone. The President then hosted a Congressional Social Hour. After hosting the Congressmen the President met with Rusk, Ball, Thompson, Bundy, Foster and Ben Read. The President had a short meeting with Joseph Alsop. The President's final meeting was with Congressman Torbert McDonald.
19 The President met with Dr Mostafa Karmel the Ambassador of the United Arab Republic and Phillp Talbot. The President next held a meeting on the railroad dispute. The President next met with Diallo Teli the special envoy of the President of Guinea. The President next met with General Curtis LeMay. President Kennedy's next meeting was with John McCone, Dr Donald Chamberlain, Dr Albert Wheelon and Dr Brockway McMillan. After lunch the President met with Justice Arthur Goldberg and Robert Dowling. The Presdient traveled to Hyannis Port for the Baptism of Robert Kennedy's son, Christopher, Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.
20 The President and Mrs Kennedy took a cruise on the Nomad. Later the President played golf with LeMoyne billings, James Reed, and Peter Lawford, Hyannis Golf Club, Massachusetts.
21 President Kennedy attended Mass at St Francis Xavier Church. President and Mrs. Kennedy and guests cruise aboard the Honey Fitz, Hyannis Port, Massachusetts
22 The President returned to Washington. The President met on the meeting on the Railroad dispute. The President met with George Meany and then hosted a BiPartisan Legislative Leaders Meeting. The President next met with George Meany and Earl Leighty, Samuel Phillips , Alton Zimmerman, Louis Wagner, Charles Luma joined the original members of the meeting. The President then had a meeting with General David Shoup. The President next met with Senator John Pastore. The President's last meeting was with Rusk, Ball, Thompson, Foster and Smith.
23 The President began his day with a Legislative Leaders Breakfast. The President then met with John Horne. The President's next meeting was with Admiral David McDonald. President Kennedy next met Arthur Calwell the leader of the Australian Labor Party. The President's last meeting before lunch was with Mayor Richard Daley. After luch the President had a meeting with advisers to discuss the Middle East and test ban negotiations. The President hosted a Congressional Social Hour. After the social hour the President met with Dean Rusk Senator Symington and Senator Albert Gore. The President last meeting as with the British Ambassador Ormsby-Gore.
24 President Kennedy greets members of the American Legion Boys Nation in the Rose Garden to start the day. He then met with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The President next met with Mohsin A Alaini the new Ambassador of Yemen. That was followed by a meeting with Dr Eduardo Uribe Botero the new Ambassador of Columbia. The President next had a meeting with Robert McNamara. After lunch the President met with Mayor Robert Wagner. The President met with Cherit Guellal the new Ambassador of Algeria. The President then met with Dean Rusk. The President next met with all of his foreign policy advisors to discuss the Harriman Mission and the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.
25 The President began his day with a meeting with the National Commander of the Jewish War Veterans. The President next met with Twelve Regional Directors of the Federal Reserve. The President met with Edwin Reischauer the US Ambassador to Japan. The President next met with Clark Clifford. President Kennedy met with an Ethiopian Parliamentary Delegation. After lunch the President met with General Lauris Norstad. After meeting with his advisors the President went to the pool at 7:24 PM.
26 President Kennedy received the Ninety-Niners a group of women pilots. Next the President met with His Highness Prince Thani Niwat of Thailand. The President next met with Senator Russel Long. Next the President met with Governor Edmund Brown governor of California. The Presidents next meeting was with Roger Stevens. The afternoon was devoted to preparing his speech to the nation on the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. That address was given at 7:00. After the speech the President left for Hyannis Port.
27 President Kennedy too a walk along the beach with his son. He took a cruise on the Honey Fitz. The Pesident went swimming.Later he played Golf with David Ormsby-Gore, LeMoyne Billings and Charles Spaulding, Hyannis Port Golf Club.
28 President Kennedy went to church at St Francis Xavier. President and Mrs. Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, and guests cruise aboard the Honey Fitz.
29 The President returned to Washington. His first meeting of the day was with Bud Wilkinson. He then met with David Cole. The President next met with Dean Rusk and Theodore Sorensen. After lunch the President had a meeting with Rep. Wilbur Mills to discuss the economy and tax cuts. the President next had a meeting with Leonard Woodcock, Jack Conway and Walter Reuther. The President then met with Hubert Humphrey and Walter Reuther.
30 The President began his day with a Legislative Leaders Breakfast. The President then met with a group of Brazilian student leaders. The President had a meeting on Textiles. Next the President had a meeting with advisers to discuss a United Nations resolution on Portuguese Africa, U.S. troop movements in Europe, matters before Congress, and Korea. The President next met with Robert McNamara. The President presented Admiral George Anderson with the Gold Star in lieu of a second Distinguished Service Medal. After Lunch the President had a meeting on Laos. The President next had a meeting on the Federal Aviation Authority. Next the President hosted a Congressional Social Hour. The President had dinner at the home of Joseph Alsop.
31 The President began his day with a meeting with M.F, de S Jayarantne the Ambassador of Ceylon. he then met the Democratic State Chairman of Georgia. The President then met with Jacob Potofsky. The President next meeting was with Senator Eugene McCarthy and Congressman Donald Fraser. After Lunch the President next met with Averell Harriman, McGeorge Bundy and Carl Kaysen. A National Security Council Meeting was next on the agenda. The President had a meeting on executive pay raise. The Presidents last meeting of the day was with Dr John Foster the Director of the Livermore Labs. Dr Norris Bradbury, Director of Los Almos and John Palfrey of the AEC and Glenn Seaborg. In the evening the President took a cruise on the Potomac.
