February 1963- President Kennedy's Schedule


 

1 President Kennedy greets the Senate Youth Group in the Rose Garden. The President then met Senator Frank Moss and Congressman Mike Mantos. The President met with James Webb of NASA David Lawrence was sworn in as Chairman of the President Committee on Equal Opportunity in Housing. The President next met with Foy Kohler the US Ambassador to the Soviet Union. The President next hosted a luncheon for Wyoming Publishers and Editors. The President next had an off the record meeting on Vietnam with his top advisors. The Presidents last meeting of the day was with David Bell.
2 The President began his day by meeting with Senator Richard Russel. He then met with Dean Rusk, McGeorge Bundy and George Ball. Next the President had a meeting on NATO with Ambassador David Bruce, Dean Rusk, George Ball, and McGeorge Bundy. The President continued to meet with his advisors until going to the pool at 1:06.
3 President Kennedy attends Mass at St. Matthew's Cathedral.
4 President Kennedy began his day with a meeting with McGeorge Bundy. He then met with Robert Komer whose expertise was Vietnam. Next the President met with Ambassador of Pakistan Aziz Ahmed. The President had a meeting on his special message on Mental Illness. He then met with Alan Kirk the Ambassador to the Republic of Ghana. The President next met with McGeorge Bund and Dean Rusk. The President met with Douglas Dillon, before ending his official day with a meeting with Sorensen that ended at 7:10.
5 The President began his day with a Legislative Leaders Breakfast. He then met with the members of Congress responsible for the District of Columbia. The President next met John McCloy and McGeorge Bundy. His next meeting was with Congressman Wright Patman. Next the President met with CIA director McCone. The President met with William Porter the US Ambassador to Algeria. After Lunch the President had a meeting with the EXCOMM to discuss Cuba and European policy . After the EXCOMM meeting the President met General Curtis Lemay, followed by a meeting with Orville Freeman and Myer Feldman. The Presidents last meeting which ended at 7:15 was with William Foster.
6 The President began his day with meeting with the Advisory Committee on Labor- Management. He then met Joseph Johnson the Former Special Representative of the Palestine Conciliation Commission. The President next met with Dr Karl Gerstens the State Secretary of the German Foreign Office. Next the President had a meeting with Lord Mountbatten, Ambassador of Britain David Ormsby-Gore, and Gen. Maxwell Taylor. After Lunch the President had a meeting on agricultural policy He later met with Joseph Alsop, The President finished his official day with a meeting with McGeorge Bundy that ended at 7:40PM.
7 President Kennedy began his day at the Presidential Pray Breakfast. After the prayer breakfast the President had a meeting to prepare for the afternoons Press Conference. At the meeting were LBJ, Rusk, Manning, Salinger, Sorensen, Feldman, Heller and Bundy. The President next met with Daniel Quiros the Foreign Minister of Costa Rica. The President then had a brief meeting with a Brazilian delegation. The President then had a luncheon for editors from Georgia. The President next gave a Press Conference. After the Press Conference the President met with his staff until 7PM.
8 In the morning the President met with Vincent Flaherty, He them met with his Committee for traffic safety. The President met with McGeorge Bundy, Jack Warner, the Dean Rusk with Adlai Stevenson, followed by Kenneth O'Donnell and Ralph Dungan. After Lunch the President met with Walter Heller. Next the President had a major meeting to discuss Nuclear Test Ban. The meeting included LBJ, Rusk and McNamara. The President's last meeting of the day was with John Stennis.
9 The President began his day with a meeting with the Governor of Guam. He next met with the Governor of Puerto Rico. The President next met with Kermit Gordon. Next the President had a meeting with Ambassador to the Soviet Union Foy Kohler. After meeting successively with Rusk, O'Brien and Bundy the President had lunch and then left for New York. In New York the President and the First Lady had dinner at Le Pavillon restaurant. They went to the Golden Theater to see "Beyond the Fringe and then attended a party until 1:40 AM.
10 The President went to Central Park with Central Park. The President and the First Lady attended Church at St Ignatious of Loyola Church. Then the President and Mrs. Kennedy, Prince and Princess Radziwill, and Charles Spaulding have lunch at the Voisin Restaurant, New York City. Late in the afternoon the President returned to Washington.
11 The President began his day with a meeting with Dr E S James the Editor of the Baptist Standard. The President then met with David Bruce the US Ambassador to Great Britain. The President had a meeting with Admiral Hyman Rickover. After lunch the President met with Douglas Dillon and Senator William Fulbright.
12 The President began his day with a meeting with the EXCOMM to discuss the multilateral nuclear force in Europe. After meeting Bundy and Sorensen the President went for a swim and to lunch. The President next met with Rostow and Sorensen, before meeting Burke Marshall of the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department, in advance of the next meeting that of the US Commission on Civil Rights. The President Hosted a reception in honor of the Centennial of the Emancipation Proclomation.
13 President Kennedy was presented a plaque by 12 Outstanding Explorer Scouts. The President had a meeting with Kermit Gordon, Willard Wiltz, Anthony Celebreze, Wilbur Cohen, David Hackett, Theodore Sorensen, and Lee White. The President had a meeting with Governor Edmund Brown. After Lunch the President met with Congressman Wilbur Mills. The President next met with LBJ, Senator Richard Russel, Bobby Baker, Larry O'Brien and Senator Mike Mansfield. The President next had a meeting on Trade Policy. The President met with Dungan, Bundy and Sorensen to end his official day.
14 The President met with the Mayor of San Juan Puerto Rico. He then had a meeting to prepare for the press conference. At the meeting were LBJ, Ball, Greenleaf, Bundy, Feldman, Heller, Salinger and Sorensen. The President met with new Ambassador of Rwanda. The President next met with JJ Hickey the Governor of Wyoming. The President next had a luncheon for Illinois Publishers. In the afternoon the President gave his Press Conference. The President and Mrs Kennedy had dinner at the home of Joseph Alsops.
15 The President met with Bundy, Schlesinger, and Sorensen. He had a meeting on Berlin negotiations with Dean Rusk, Llewellyn Thompson, Ambassador Walter Dowling, and William Tyler. The President next met with the US Ambassador to Greece. He next met Enrique Tejera-Paris the newly appointed Ambassador of Venezuela. The President next met with Giueseppe Saragat the member of the Italian Parliament and Leader of the Democratic Socialist Party. After lunch the President met with Roswell Gilpatric. The President's last meeting was with Dean Rusk, Adlai Stevenson, Francis Plimpton, Lawrence O'Brien and Arthur Schlesinger.
16 The President met with his aids in the morning. In the afternoon the President Kennedy helicopters to Glen Ora. Middleburg, Virginia.
17 The President and First Lady went to church at the Middleburg Community Center. The President and Mrs. Kennedy, with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fay visit the site of the President's new home, Atoka, Virginia. At 6:35 the President returned to Washington.
18 The President began his day meeting with Bundy and Clifton. The President then had a lengthy meeting with LBJ, Rusk , McNamara , McCone, Taylor, Carter, Adrain Fisher, Franklin Long, Peter Scoville, Jerome Wicaner, Bundy and Carl Kayser. Next the President met with Congressman Carl Elliot, Phil Landrum, Harris McDowel, James Trimble and Stanley Tupper. The President participated in the presentation of the National Medal of Science to Theodores von Karman. After lunch the President met with Rusk, Livingston Merchant, John Lee, Jeffrey Kitchen, Girad Smith, John McNaughtor , McGeorge Bundy Walter Rostow and David Kline. The President next met with the US Ambassador to Venezuela. The President next met with a Bipartisan Legislative Leaders Meeting.
19 The President began the day with a Legislative Leaders Breakfast. The President greeted President Romulo Betancourt of Venezuela. After Lunch the President had a meeting with the Venezuelan President. The President and Mrs Kennedy gave a state dinner in honor of President Romulo Betancourt of Venezuela.
20 President Kennedy met with Congressman Olin Teague the Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee. The President then met with Frederick Reinhardt the US Ambassador to Italy. The President participated in a parade for President Romulo Betancourt of Venezuela. Before going to the pool the President met with John McCone. After lunch the President met with the Venezuelan President. Late in the afternoon the President met with Celebreze, Weaver, Cohen, Hughes, Sorensen, O'Brien and Feldmand. The President's last meeting was with David Bruce and McGeorge Bundy. In the evening the President and First Lady attended a reception at the Venezuelan Embassy.
21 The President had a pre press conference breakfast with LBJ, Rusk and other advisors. The President then met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Chile. The President next met with the US Ambassador to Laos. The President next met with Congressman Oren Harris. The President next met with William Foster. The President next met with the King of Belgium. After lunch the President gave a press conference. The President later had a meeting with Rusk, Harriman, Talbot, Bundy, Lomar and David Snyder. The President met with Joseph Alsop and then went to the mansion for a diplomatic reception. The President and the First Lady then left for Palm Beach.
22 The President played on the beach with John Jr. The President Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, and guests cruise aboard the Honey Fitz, Palm Beach, Florida.
23 The President began the day by visiting his Father. The President Kennedy, Ambassador and Mrs. Ormsby-Gore, and Mrs. Earl Smith cruise aboard the Honey Fitz, Palm Beach, Florida.
24 President Kennedy attended church at St Edwards Church. President and Mrs. Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, and guests cruise aboard the Honey Fitz, Palm Beach, Florida. At 8PM the President and the First Lady left for Washington.
25 The President addressed the Symposium on Economic Growth at the Mayflower Hotel. The President met with David Bruce the Ambassador to Great Britain. He was joined by Llewellyn Thompson and McGeorge Bundy. At noon the President greeted King Savang Vatthana of Laos. The President then had a meeting with King Savang Vatthana of Laos, Prime Minister Souvanna Phouma, and three Laotian cabinet members. The President next held a luncheon for the Laotian King. After returning to his office the President met with Edgar Kaiser and Leo Welch. The President next had a meeting on Civil Rights with the Attorney General and other staff members. After meeting wit McNamara and Heller the President chaired a meeting on Yemen.
26 The President began the day with a Legislative Leaders Breakfast. The President upon his arrival in the Oval Office met with Congressman Wayne Aspinall. He later met with Dean Acheson and McGeorge Bundy. The President then gave a luncheon for Prince Albert of Belgium in the White House State Dining Room. After returning to his office the President met with the Ambassador of Panama. he next met with Senator Albert Gore. President Kennedy motored to the Laotian Embassy for a reception in his honor.
27 President Kennedy met with representative of the National Council of Catholic Men. He then met with the new officers of the Reserve Officers Association. The President next had a nearly hour long meeting with the German Defense Minister and his entourage. The President next met with Leland Haworth a Commissioner on the Atomic Energy Commission. The President next met with Congressman Harold Cooley. The President had a meeting on Civil Rights with RFK and others. When he returned to the office the President met with King Savang Vatthana of Laos. After that meeting the President met with Rusk, Ball and Bundy. The President next met with Udall, John Kelly from Commerce, John O'Leary. Richard Donhue, Edward McDermont and Myer Feldman.
28 The President began his day with a meeting with Congressman Clarence Cannon. President Kennedy then met with Antonio Carrillo Flores the Ambassador of Mexico. The President then hosted a Luncheon for Tennessee Publishers and Editors. The President met with John Collins the Mayor of Boston. The President then had a meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the White House. The President ended the day with a meeting with Sorensen that ended at 7:20.
