Colonists Move West of Appalachians

The British proclaimed that the land to the West of the Appalachian mountains was Indian land, not to be settled by the colonists. The proclamation was greatly resented by the colonists, many of whom disregarded it. It was one of many grievances that the colonists had against the English.
