The President began his day with an address at the National Academy of Sciences. The President took the opportunity to assure the American people that the outbreak of swine flu was not a reason for alarm. He also stated that the national goal for R&D would be 3%. He announced the creation of a special fund for high risk high reward research. Remarks

The President then received his daily economic and security briefings. He also spoke to John Brennan the head of the Center for Disease Control to receive an update on Swine Flu outbreak

In the afternoon the President recieved the University of Conneticut Women's Basketball Team.

In the evening the President hosted a reception for foreing ecnonomic, finance and enviromental ministers.
