President Obama with Repulican Sentator Judd Gregg

The President spent the first part of the morning receiving his daily briefings and meeting with his senior advisors.

9:15am THE PRESIDENT received Presidential Daily Briefing
9:45am THE PRESIDENT received Economic Daily Briefing
10:15am THE PRESIDENT meets with senior advisors

At 11:00 AM The President announced that Republican Senator Judd Gregg would become his nominee for Remarks before meeting

The President and the First Lady made a surprise visit to the Capital City Public Charter School. Remarks

The real news of the day was the first major set-back that the Obama administration suffered when Senator Daschle the administrations designee for Health and Human Services and the point person for health care reform withdrew his appointment. Daschle had run into difficulties because of his failure to pay income taxes on the use of a car. Earlier in the day Nancy Killefer who was to be the Chief Perfomance Officer for the adminstration also withdrew her nomination because of tax problems.

In the afternoon the President gave a series of interivew to all the major networks. In his interview with CNN the President stated that "I think I screwed up" he also stated that "he was concerned with how fast the economy is deteriorating".
