Sayona 11 (ex Tip Top), a wooden yacht built in 1907 by H. Manley, Crosby, Mass., was acquired by the Navy in July 1917 under free lease from H. W. Hower, Rome, N.Y.; designated SP-1109; and placed in service on 3 August 1917, Boatswain L. T. Creef in charge.
Assigned to the 5th Naval District, Sayona 11 served on net patrol duty in Hampton Roads into the spring of 1918. She was then reassigned to Customs House duty which she continued through the end of World War I. On 30 December 1918, she was placed out of service and returned to her owner.
