The biggest news story of the day was the rescue of the Pfc. Jessica D. Lynch, of Palestine, W.Va.,by Navy SEALs, U.S. Army Rangers, Air Force combat controllers, and Marines, from her Iraqi captors. Pfc. Lynch had been listed as Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown following an ambush of her convoy by enemy forces on March 23, 2003.
