A film star who retired from movies in 1956 to marry a real-life prince, Grace Kelly remained the object of enormous public interest throughout her reign as Monaco's princess. Her Hollywood tenure was marked by roles in many popular films, including Dial M forMurder (1954), To Catch a Thief (1955), High Noon (1952), and The Country Girl (1954), for which she received an Academy Award. Tragically, her life was cut short in a car accident precipitated, it is believed, by her suffering a stroke while behind the wheel.
