March 1963- President Kennedy's Schedule


 

1 President Kennedy began his day with a meeting with US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ellsworth Bunker. He then met with Congressman George Miller. Next the President hosted a Cabinet Meeting. the President then met with the Governor-elect of the state of Ceara, Brazil. The President greeted the students and staff of the Argentina War College. A Missouri delegation invited the President to participate the 200th Anniversary of St Louis in 1964, the President accepted. After Lunch the President. The President had a meeting on Balance of Payments, that meeting included Dean Acheson, Rusk, Dillon and McNamara. The President next had a meeting with Sterlin Cottrell , Richard Helms, Joseph Kin and General Enemark. The President ended the say with a meeting on Labor relations that ended at 7:10.
2 The President began his day by meeting with Peter Schruth, publisher of Holiday magazine. He then met with Najeeb Halaby the Administrator of the FAA. After meeting with advisors the President called it a day by 1PM.
3 President Kennedy attends Mass at St. Matthew's Cathedral. In the afternoon President Kennedy tours the Smithsonian Aeronautics Building, walks along the reflecting pool to the Lincoln Memorial, and visits Arlington National Cemetery. In the evening he went to the Marine Air Terminal to greet his family who were arriving.
4 President Kennedy began his day with a Meeting with Dr. Walter Hallstein, President of the Commission of the European Economic Community. The President then met with McGeorge Bundy. Next the President met with Hugh Sidey. After lunch the President met with the United States Inter-American Council Inc. The President next met with John McCone. His next meeting was with RFK, Stewart Udall, Ramsey Clark, Archibald Cox and Frank Barry on Civil Rights. The President next met with Douglas Dillon and ended his official day with a meeting with McGeorge Bundy that ended at 7:25 PM. In the evening the President gave two addresses a the Sheraton Park Hotel in honor of the 50th anniversary of the department of the Labor. The President returned to the White House at 11:30 PM.
5 The President began his day with a Legislative Leaders Breakfast. President Kennedy next met with Senator Allen Ellender. Next he met with Senator Lister Hill. President Kennedy next welcomed representatives of the National Congress of American Indian. Kennedy next had a meeting with Edwin Martin, Sterling Cottrall, Lansing Collins and Ralph Dungan. The Presidents last meeting before going to the pool was Emmet Hughes. After lunch the President had a meeting with Dean Rusk, Luther Hodges, Christian Herter, George Ball, and Myer Feldman. Next the President met with General Lucius Clay, David Bell and Ralph Dungan. The President next met with McGeorge Bundy, Walter Heller, Theodore Sorensen and Andrew Hatcher. His last meeting of the day was on Civil Rights with RFK, Clark Clifford, Kenneth O'Donnel and Lawrence O'Brien.
6 The President began his day with a Pre Press Breakfast. Among the attendees was LBJ and Dean Rusk. The President then met with a group of newly promoted Foreign Service Officers. The President next met with McGeorge Bundy and Andrew Hatcher. Next the President gave his Press Conference. After the press conference the President met with Dirk Stikker the Secretary General of NATO. After Lunch the President met with his advisors, his last meeting was with Bundy and Feldman.
7 President Kennedy received the 1963 Delegates of New York Herald Tribune Work Youth Forum. The President next met with Senator Waren Magnuan. The President had a meeting with United Mine Workers President Tony Boyle. The President met with William Gargan and Warren Rogers of the Herald Tribune. After lunch the President met separately with McGeorge Bundy, David Schoebrum, Michael Forrestal, Theodore Sorensen and Ralph Dungan and McGeorge Bundy.
8 The President started the day receiving the Easter Seal Child. The President next met with Senator John Pastore. The meeting was followed by a meeting on Trade Negotiations with George Ball and others. The President next met with Stanely Stafford, EE Wallace, Thomas Lively Erwin Kahn, Herbert Heftler and John Austin. The President next met with John Bailey the head of the Democratic National Committee. The President had a meeting on South America with Dean Rusk, Richard Helms, George Ball and others, That meeting ended at 6:35.
9 The President began his day with a meeting of the Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board. The President next met with Edward Patterson, Charles Bartlett, Spencer Mosley, and Hal Korda. The President's next meeting was with Rusk, McNamara and Bundy. President Kennedy met with Senator William Benton next. In the evening the President went to the Gridion Club annual meeting.
10 The President attended Church at St Stephen's. President Kennedy helicopters to Camp David and remains overnight.
11 The President returned to Washington. The President began his day with a meeting with Congressman Wright Patman. He then met with Willard Wirtz and received a report on National Manpower Requirements. The President next met with the Brazilian Finance Minister. The President's next meeting was with a delegation with the National Highway Users Conference. The President next met with Henry Luce. At 2:05 PM the President went to the pool. After the lunch the President met Koichirc Asakai the Ambassador of Japan. The President next hosted a meeting on Yemen. The President ended the day with a meeting Bill Bags.
12 The President began his day with the Legislative Leaders Breakfast. He then met with Congressman Hale Boggs. He then met with Congressman Emanuel Celler. The President next met with Edward McDermott. He then met with Willard Thorp the Chairman of Development Assistance Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. The President hosted a luncheon meeting on unemployment and economic problems with members of the AFL-CIO Executive Committee. The President next met with a delegation of the American Associations for the United Nations. The President ended his official day with a meeting with Hugh Sidey.
13 President Kennedy met with Edward Kerry the US Ambassador to Ethiopia. The President dropped in on a meeting of the Advertising Council Conference. For the rest of the morning the President met with his aids. After Lunch the President met with John McCone. The President then hosted a National Security Council Meeting. Following the large meeting the President met with Rusk, McNamara, William Tyler, Jeffrey Kitcher, Paul Nitze, George Ball and McGeorge Bundy. The President met with Douglas Dillon, and then Adlai Stevenson. The President ended his day at 7:35 with a meeting with O'Donnel and Bundy.
14 The President began his day with a meeting with Senators Muskie and Pastore. He then met with Congressman William Dawson. The President hosted a luncheon for editors and publishers of Maryland and Delaware. After lunch the President met with Governor John Reynold of Wisconsin. The President next met with his Council on Aging. The President next attended a meeting on Costa Rica and Guatemala with Edwin Martin, Téodoro Moscoso, Richard Helms, Oliver Sause, Dean Rusk, and Ralph Dungan.
15 The President met with Thomas Kicrnan the Ambassador of Ireland. The President then met with Thomas Morgan. Next the President met with the National Executive Committee of the National Council of Catholic Men. The President then traveled to West Palm Beach.
16 President Kennedy and Dave Powers cruise on Lake Worth aboard the Honey Fitz, Palm Beach, Florida
17 President Kennedy and Dave Powers cruise aboard the Honey Fitz to watch Marine Reserve units make an amphibious landing, Palm Beach, Florida.
18 The President leave Palm Beach and flies to Cost Rica. He Has a meeting with Central American Presidents at the Presidents' Conference, Téatro Nacional, San Jose, Costa Rica.
19 The President spent the day at the Conference of Central American Leaders. The President holds a Luncheon reception for the delegations.
20 In the morning the President continued his meetings with the other leaders. In the afternoon the President spoke at San Jose University to the students. In the evening the President returned to Washington.
21 The President had a Pre Press briefing with Rusk, Ball and others. The President next met with David Ormsby Gore. At 6PM the President gave his Press Conference. After the conference the President greeted the Winners of the Annual White House Photo Contest.
22 The President presented the Distinguished Civilian Service Awards Boards. The President next met with Heinrich von Brentanc the chairman of the CDU German Budestag Faction. The President next met with General Lucius Clay and David Bell. The President's next meeting was with Vice Admiral David McDonald and Vice Admiral William Sheoch. After Lunch the President met with Edwin Martin and Richard Helms. The President met with the Norwegian Foreign Minister and the Norwegian Defense Minister. The President met Hon Livingston Merchant. The President next had a meeting with senior defense and foreign policy advisers to discuss the multilateral force and Europe. The meeting which lasted from 5:30 to 7 included Rusk and McNamara. The President ended his official day with a meeting with Ralph McGill.
23 The President flew to Chicago, to attend the dedication ceremony of O'Hare International Airport. The President attended a Civic Luncheon at the Conrad Hilton Hotel. The President returned to Washington and went to Camp David.
24 President Kennedy attended church at Camp David.
25 The President returned from Camp David. His first meeting was with Clark Clifford. The President then met with San Tiago Dantas, Finance Minister of Brazil, and Ambassador of Brazil Robert de Oliveira Campos. The President next met with McGeorge Bundy. The President next greeted the faculty and students of the French National War College. The President next met with John McCone Director of the CIA. The President next held a meeting on the situation in the Congo. The President had a meeting with James Webb. The President next me with RFK, McNamara and Roswell Gilpatric. The President ended the day with a meeting with Sorensen which ended at 8:00 PM.
26 The President began the day with a Legislative Leaders Breakfast. The President had a briefing on the King of Morocco. The President then met with Lincoln Gordon the US Ambassador to Brazil. The President next had a meeting with George Ball and then with Douglas Dillon. The President then participated in the swearing-in ceremony of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr. as Under Secretary of Commerce. After lunch the President dropped in on the Annual Convention of the Magazine Publishers Association. The President latter met with Rusk, Joseph Yager, Bundy, Alexis Johnson,William Bundy and Admiral Luther Heinz.
27 President Kennedy received the National Civil Service League Winner of 1963. The President then met with Robert Komer. The President and the First Lady went to Union Station to greet King Hassan II of Morocco. After lunch the President met with King Hassan and his party,. After the meeting the President meet with Rusk and Bundy. In the evening the President and the First Lady Hosted a Dinner for King Hassan.
28 The President began his day with a meeting with Congressman Barnett O'Hara. He then met with Senator Pat McNamara. The President next met with Walter Heller. The President met with McGeorge Bundy. The President had a meeting on the situation in Korea. Next the President met with Sudhir Ghosh Senator from India. The President attended a Luncheon in his honor given at the Moroccon Embassy. After the luncheon the President met with King Hassan. The President next met with Douglas Dillon, Orvell Freeman and Myer Feldman.
29 The President began with a brief meeting with Charles Withers the US Ambassador to Rwanda. He then had an Off the record meeting with Congressmen:Carl Albert, Hale Boggs, Adam Clyaton Powell, Edith Green, Oren Harris, John Dent, and Carl Perkins. Next the President met with Dean Rusk, Frederick Reinhrdt William Tyler and McGeorge Bundy. The Presidents Next meetings was with Senator Paul Douglas. The President met with Former Ambassador to France James Gavin and then met with Senator Stuart Symington. The President next chaired an EXCOMM meeting. In preparation for his final meeting with the King of Morocco the President met with Rusk and the US Ambassador to Morocco. He then and a last one hour meeting with the King. The President then had a meeting with Rusk and Bell, followed by a meeting with Harriman, Rostow and Komer. The President ended his day with a brief meeting with Kwon Chung the Ambassador of Korea who a letter from Chairman Chung Hee Park.
30 President Kennedy worked in his office in the morning then President and Mrs. Kennedy, Caroline and John Kennedy, Jr. helicopter to Camp David for the weekend.
31 President Kennedy, Mrs. Kennedy, Caroline  Kennedy and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fay and children drive to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to tour the battlefield.
