The Presidency of Barack Obama- The Third Week of Transition

The third week of the Obama Transition began with Obama thanking the people of Illinios for their support and resigning from his post as Senator.

President-elect Barack Obama also announced the following key White House staff: David Axelrod, Lisa Brown, Greg Craig, and Chris Lu. David Axelrod will serve as Senior Advisor to the President, Lisa Brown will serve as Staff Secretary, Greg Craig will serve as White House Counsel, and Chris Lu will serve as Cabinet Secretary.

On Monday he had a meeting with Senator John McCain. Much of the week took place against the background of the increasing strigent requests of the Auto companies for aid.

On Friday the 21st Obama announced the following appointments

Patrick Gaspard, Director of the Office of Political Affairs; Jackie Norris, Chief of Staff to the First Lady; Catherine (Cathy) M. Russell, Chief of Staff for Dr. Jill Biden; Cynthia Hogan, Counsel to the Vice President; and Moises (Moe) V. Vela, Jr., Director of Administration for the Office of the Vice President.

On Saturday the 22nd of November President-elect Obama gave a radio address to the American people in which he promised an economic stimus package that would create 2.5 million jobs. Text of Speech
