Day Forty Four March 5, 2009

The President began his day with his daily security briefing followed by his economic briefing. At 1PM the President gave opening remarks at the White House forum on Health Care reform. The forum was remarkable meeting that included Congressional leaders, representatives from all parts of the health care community, as well as government officials. After the opening remarks by the Presidents the participant broke up into working sessions to examine different aspects of the industry. At the end of the afternoon the President brought the participants back together to answer questions and make closing remarks. There was a clear sense in the room that real progress in reforming health care would be made this year. The President made it clear that unless health care was reformed it would continue to eat up more and more of the federal and privates budgets. Closing Remarks and Q&A

The First Lady made a visit in the afternoon to "Miriam Kitchen" a non-profit that serves food to homeless in Washington DC.
