1659... Quaker Executed

The Massachusetts Bay Colony persecuted Quakers and in effect hung them.
Why were their actions considered so dangerous to the new society?

EXERCISE: Hold a Mock Trial for Quakers.

Break the class into three groups. The first will be the Quakers, the second prosecutors for the Massachuesetts Bay and the third will the judges. First have the prosecutors present their case? How did the practices of the Quakers violate the beliefs of the Puritans.? Why was it dangerous to the colony? Have the Quakers defend their beliefs? Have them present the case for religious liberties in the colony?
