Serbia Declares War on Ottoman Empire

In May of 1876 the Bulgarians began an insurrection against the Ottomans. The insurrection was quelled brutally and thousand of Bulgarians were slain. To protest this Serbia declared war on the Ottomans. The Serbs were defeated at the battle of Alexinatz on September 1. The Bulgarian revolt ended soon after.
