1945 P-80 Goes into Service

The US army airforce offically deplyed its first jet equipped fighter group. Designated the P-80 "Shooting Star" it was capable of speeds of over 550 mph. the plae was the US airforces first jet fighter. It was flown extensively in the Korean War, primarily as a ground support aircraft. A total of 5,691 of the aircraft were built.
