The President began his day with his daily economic and security briefings. Following the briefings the President announced that GM was filing for bankruptcy. GM has gone from the largest US company to this day when it was forced to declare bankruptcy. Obama announced that US would provide financing for GM while it was in bankruptcy. When GM emerged from bankruptcy the US government will own 60% of the company. Remarks

In the afternoon the President visit wounded veterans at Bethesda Hospital.

He then met with the National Economic Council Staff.
