The Golden Years

1934 DC-2 Introduced

Douglas built only one DC-1 It immediately created the DC-2. The DC 2 was 18 inches longer then the DC-1. Another 18 inches were carved out of the baggage compartment to create room for anohter two passengers. TWA started flying the DC-2. It could fly from Los Angeles to New York in 16 hours with two stops carrying 14 passengers at a cruising speed of 170 mph.
