Muhammad II Fails to Capture Rhodes — HistoryCentral

In 1480 Muhammed II failed in his attempt to capture the island of Rhodes, which was held by the knights of St John of Jerusalem. He did however, capture Otranto in southern Italy . The capture of Otranto brought to an end an Italian civil war which had been taking place since 1478.
