The Vikings

The Vikings were also known as the Northmen of Norsemen of Scandinavia. They were successful raiders and invaders of much of Europe. Their success can be explained by the fact that all of the Vikings were warriors as well as superb shipbuilders. The Vikings attacked England , Russia, Ireland and parts of France. By the tenth century Viking raids came to a close, but many of the Vikings stayed behind and became assimilated with the native populations. In Russia Rurik a Viking, was one of the founders of Russia.
