Lufthansa

Lufthansa was founded in January 1926 as Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaff. It was the result from the combination of Deutche aeor Lloyd and Junkers Luftverkehr AG. In 1933 its name was changed to Lufthansa. In 1934 Lufthansa became the first airline to offer air mail service to South America. In 1938 it flew the first non stop flight of land based plane between Berlin and New York. In 1945 with Germany’s defeat Lufthansa ceased operations. In 1955 a new company Lufthansa was refounded. In 1960 Lufthansa deployed its first Boeing 707. In 1968 Lufthansa became the first airline to deploy a 737. In 1970 Lufthansa became the first European airline to deploy a 747.
